Greeting IPCC Chairman Hoesung Lee in Hanoi on Monday, he said he expects the IPCC, which is under the World Meteorological Organisation, to support Vietnam in conducting climate change-related research and help Vietnamese agencies, universities, institutes, and the hydro-meteorological centre to take part in its research groups.
He asked the IPCC to share climate change response solutions and provide technical and equipment support so that Vietnam can assess more accurately climate change impacts, especially flooding, saltwater intrusion, and geological changes. Vietnam hopes for the IPCC’s close coordination to realise the agreements reached at the 2015 Paris Climate Conference (COP 21), where Vietnam was a participant.

Hoesung Lee said the IPCC is fully aware of the climate change challenges facing Vietnam and hopes to work more closely with Vietnamese scientists in climate change response.
