Vietnam emerges as largest exporter of pepper to US

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam was the largest pepper supplier to the US market as it exported about 267,000 tons of pepper in 2023 and earned 912 million USD, according to the General Department of Customs.

The US made up 23% of Vietnam’ total export earnings between January and November 2023. 

The Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA) reports that Vietnamese pepper has a strong competitive advantage thanks to incentives from the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA).

In addition, Vietnam’s pepper industry is highly admired for its processing capacity with the rate of processed products accounting for about 30% of total export turnover.
