The 17-member body oversees the administration of the IPU and provides advice to the Governing Council. As one of two Asia-Pacific nations elected, Vietnam will continue to promote Asia-Pacific at global parliamentary dialogues.

The 133rd Assembly (IPU-133) took place in Geneva, Switzerland, from October 17 to 21, where the worst migrant crisis since World War II dominated the plenary session. 800 participants representing 135 member states urged all parties involved to share responsibility and protect the migrants by following international conventions and humanitarian laws.
