Speaking at a reception in Hanoi on Tuesday for Nicholas Berggruen, Founder and Chairman of Berggruen Holdings and the Berggruen Institute and Nguyen Thi Lien Hang, Director of the Weatherhead East Asian Institute at US-based Columbia University, Party leader Lam highlighted Vietnam’s consistent policy of building an independent and self-reliant economy while pursuing extensive international integration. He stressed the importance of effectively combining internal strength and external resources.

The Party leader reaffirmed Vietnam’s commitment to fostering relations with the United States for the benefit of the people and businesses of both nations. He encouraged Mr. Berggruen and Ms. Hang to explore new opportunities for investment and research in Vietnam and to strengthen the implementation of existing cooperation agreements between Columbia University and Vietnamese universities.

The guests pledged to support efforts to deepen bilateral relations and promote investment opportunities while aiding Vietnam in achieving its development goals
