(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam deeply values Cuba’s long-standing solidarity and support for its struggle for independence and reunification, as well as its ongoing national construction and defense process, Party General Secretary To Lam said during a meeting with Cuban Vice President Salvador Valdes Mesa on Wednesday in Ho Chi Minh City, shortly after the ceremony marking the 50th anniversary of Vietnam’s reunification.

Mr. Lam affirmed Vietnam’s continued commitment to standing alongside Cuba and offering support within its capacity.

Vice President Mesa, who is also a Politburo member of the Communist Party of Cuba, said the April 30 victory in 1975 was not only a triumph for the Vietnamese people but also for peace advocates around the world, including the Cuban people. He expressed confidence in Vietnam’s continued progress in national development.

The two sides also discussed ways to enhance bilateral economic cooperation, aiming to make it more practical and effective.
