Vietnam considers South Africa a leading important partner in Africa

(VOVWORLD) -Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said on Monday that Vietnam considers South Africa a leading important partner in the African region, applauds South Africa's global and regional position and prestige, including its role as G20 Chair in 2025, and wishes to further the "Partnership for Cooperation and Development" relationship between the two countries.

During the expanded BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa on Monday.

He said that the two countries still have much room to complement each other and deepen their comprehensive cooperation, especially in economics, trade, investment, education-training, tourism, and people-to-people exchange, creating momentum to lift the relationship to a new height.

For his part, President Cyril Ramaphosa praised Vietnam's socio-economic achievements and said South Africa values the traditional friendship with Vietnam. He expressed his wish to visit Vietnam soon in 2025.

The two leaders affirmed their shared commitment to multilateralism, international law and South-South cooperation.
