Le Thi Tuyet Mai, head of Vietnam’s permanent mission to the UN, the WTO, and other international organisations said at an online special session of the WTO General Council that Vietnam will cooperate closely with Ms. Okonjo-Iweala and believes she is capable of leading the WTO to meet current challenges and achieve its targets.

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the WTO’s 7^th General Director, is the first woman and the first African to be elected WTO leader. Her term will begin in March.
