Being organized every five years, the conference has become an important forum to promote the serious implementation of the treaty globally. Addressing the event, Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga, Head of the Vietnamese delegation to the UN, said Vietnam is committed to fully implementing regulations stipulated in the NPT, always abide by international standards and regulations in preparing infrastructure for the use of nuclear power in Vietnam, especially those concerning nuclear security and safety. Ms Nga said Vietnam has actively participated in international initiatives and mechanisms concerning the disarmament and non-proliferation of nuclear weapons and strengthened international cooperation in using nuclear power for peaceful purposes.
