Mr. Xi said the Chinese Party, State, and people attach great importance to relations with Vietnam. He said he is ready to work with Vietnam on promoting friendship and cooperation to ensure a healthy and stable comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership and elevate bilateral ties.
The two leaders discussed ways to consolidate mutual trust and friendship, improve cooperation across the board, maintain peace and stability at sea, and continue to develop Sino-Vietnam relations in a healthy, stable and sustainable manner. They agreed to maintain regular high-level discussions to increase mutual understanding and settle issues arising from bilateral relations.
They also agreed to improve the management of the Sino-Vietnam border in line with signed agreements between the two sides and soon pilot tourism cooperation at the Ban Gioc (Vietnam)-Detian (China) waterfalls.
They underlined the importance of maintaining peace and stability at sea. Party leader Trong said both sides should adhere to their high-level perception, respect each other’s legitimate interests and settle differences by peaceful means in accordance with international law including the 1982 UN Convention on the law of the Sea.
