During their talks following the ceremony, the two sides exchanged views on the current situation and issues of mutual concern. They praised ASEAN’s role in shaping and maintaining regional security, promoting substantive cooperation among member countries, and fostering collaboration between ASEAN and its partners.
General Cuong highlighted Vietnam's policy of consistently seeking to maintain peace, stability, security, safety, and freedom of navigation and aviation.
He emphasized Vietnam’s commitment to resolving all disputes by peaceful means, in accordance with international law, including the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), and to fully implementing the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC), and to building an effective Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC).
The two sides agreed to continue coordinating and effectively implementing the shared understanding of their senior leaders and defense ministries regarding military and defense cooperation.
They will focus on promoting communications on the history and significance of Vietnam-Cambodia solidarity, strengthening exchange programs for young leaders and officers within their armies, and continuing to support each other on regional and global issues.
