In his address, Ambassador Dang Dinh Quy, Head of the Vietnamese delegation at the UN expressed Vietnam’s deep concern over escalating violence in Myanmar and developments on March 27. He condemned and called for an end to violence against civilians. The Vietnamese representative said the top priority now is to ensure security and safety for the people and begin humanitarian aid.
The Ambassador emphasized the importance of promoting dialogue, conciliation, cooperation, and trust building and focusing on the people to contribute to peace and stability in Myanmar and the region. Quy called on the international community to continue to help Myanmar end violence, stabilize the situation, and avoid actions that escalate tensions within Myanmar.
On the occasion, Vietnam shared ASEAN’s efforts in seeking solutions to help Myanmar and called on countries to support ASEAN’s efforts. He supported the role of the UN Secretary General’s Special Envoy to Myanmar and urged the Special Envoy to strengthen cooperation with ASEAN.
