As a member of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty, and the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, Vietnam consistently attaches the importance of complying with international law and the UN Charter.
Ambassador Do Hung Viet highlighted ASEAN's efforts to implement the Treaty on the Southeast Asia Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone (SEANWFZ), adding that Vietnam strongly supports initiatives to address the humanitarian and environmental consequences of nuclear testing and use.
As Chairman of the 2026 Review Conference on the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, Ambassador Viet called on countries to cooperate to strengthen global disarmament and non-proliferation mechanisms, demonstrate the highest level of political responsibility and determination, and contribute to reducing, and eventually eliminating these weapons of mass destruction.
