This is the first event initiated by Vietnam to create a momentum for trade and investment relations with its Middle Eastern and North African counterparts. Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Phuong Nga told a press briefing in Hanoi on Wednesday. "International integration and cooperation has developed strongly in East Asia, Middle East, and North Africa and they have the potential and advantages to supplement each other. Vietnam sees many opportunities to boost relations with the Middle East and North Africa. The forum will create conditions for policy-makers and enterprises to exchange information, seek cooperative opportunities, and strengthen Vietnam’s economic relations with the countries of the regions in concert with their political ties."

Ms. Nga said Vietnam considers the forum a good opportunity to market its culture, land, and people and enhance mutual understanding with Middle Eastern and North African countries.

Beside a plenary session, the forum will include seminars on energy, trade, infrastructure development, and cooperative agriculture, tourism, and employment. President Truong Tan Sang is scheduled to meet with the heads of the delegations to the forum and Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung will deliver an opening speech.
