Vietnam, Bahamas establish diplomatic ties

(VOVWORLD) - On Friday, Head of the Vietnamese Delegation to the UN Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang and Head of the Bahamas Delegation to the UN Oduma Smith signed a Joint Statement on establishing diplomatic ties between the two countries.

The two sides agreed to strengthen the exchanges of diplomatic missions and share information about each other’s strength and cooperation potential in economics, trade, investment, tourism, banking, IT and agriculture. They pledged to work closely at the UN and other multilateral forums.

Bahamas is one of the Commonwealth of States that has strong economic advantages, especially in tourism and financial services.

Vietnam has so far established diplomatic ties with 191 countries which reflect its foreign policy of diversification and multilateralization of international relations, and respecting developing ties with Latin American and Caribbean countries.

The joint statement was sent to the UN Secretary General for Antonio Guterres for circulation and to UN member countries for information.
