(VOV) – Vietnam’s Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Quan highlighted several scientific and technological achievements which have helped with Vietnam’s economic development. Quang is leading a delegation to a UN meeting on science and technology for development, in Geneva, Switzerland which began on Monday. As part of his trip, he also met with the Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization, Francis Gurry. He asked Gurry for support when Vietnam draws up and implements its national strategy on intellectual property rights. This will include developing three trademarks for Vietnamese agriculture, building an intellectual property development centre at Hoa Lac Hi-tech Park and training the necessary human resources. Francis said he supports and agrees with Vietnam’s national strategy on intellectual property and will help to turn it into an effective tool for advancing science, technology, the economy, and culture in the country.
