The five plenary sessions will focus on US contributions to regional stability, measures to strengthen defense cooperation, opinions of world powers on peace and security in Asia-Pacific, and the handling of tensions and conflict in the region. Territorial disputes in the East Sea and East China Sea, and concerns about security in Asia will be the main topics of the dialogue. Analysts say China’s illegal deployment of oil rig Haiyang 981 in Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf violating Vietnam’s sovereignty right and jurisdiction will heat up this year’s Dialogue. The three-day event, which will be attended by prime ministers, and defence chiefs, will begin with a speech by Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
