(VOV) - A Vietnamese delegation headed up by Colonel Dang Xuan Khang, the Chief of Interpols Office in Vietnam, is attending the agencies' 81st General Assembly in Rome. The main focuses will be in challenges facing the police including border security, organized crime, terrorism, and smuggling.
A presentation by the Vietnamese delegation stated that the country has tried its best to complete its legal legislation, improve legal education, and fully implement a national program on crime prevention to focus on breaking up criminal gangs. Vietnam considers criminal violence, especially terrorism and drugs and human trafficking, as a transnational issue, which threatens the security of countries across the world, said the report. It proposed closer cooperation in line with international treaties, and bilateral agreements on extradition and judicial assistance, to prevent and combat criminal violence.

This year’s conference, which will conclude on Thursday, has attracted security, interior and judicial ministers from 106 countries around the world, to adopt a joint declaration on this issue.

Interpol is the world’s largest international police agency with 190 members. Vietnam became the 166th member in 1991.
