The vote was carried out at an online conference of the APO Executive Committee on Monday.
This is the second time in more than 20 years Vietnam has taken on this important role. At the 41st annual meeting of APO Executive Committee in Tokyo, Japan, in 1999, Vietnam became for the first time APO Chair for the term 1999-2000.
Speaking at the conference, Dr. Hiep thanked the support of member economies, emphasizing that the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic is the time for APO and member economies to build a new, clear strategy and vision to unite, overcome the difficult period, and enhance productivity activities to restore the post-COVID-19 economy.
