Vietnam asks for UN support in peacekeeping operations

At a reception in Hanoi on Tuesday, Deputy Defense Minister and Head of the Steering board for Vietnam’s peacekeeping operations Nguyen Chi Vinh said that Vietnam appreaciates UN’s supports for its participation in UN peacekeeping operations. He reiterated Vietnam’s consistent policy of actively joining and fulfilling UN’s peace-keeping missions.

In addition, Vinh briefed the UN leader on Vietnam’s preparations to send its engineering and military medical units to join UN missions in the future.

He also proposed that the UN support Vietnam in peacekeeping training and applying for some posts in the UN.
