Head of the Permanent Delegation of Vietnam to UNESCO Ambassador Nguyen Thi Van Anh and Dr. Vu Thi Minh Huong, member of the International Advisory Committee of UNESCO and Vice President of the Memory of the World Committee for Asia and the Pacific attended the conference.
Documentary heritage is a key component of human memory, helping people understand the past, learn from the past, and shape the future. The world has 496 World Documentary Heritages registered under the Memory of the World Program, of which Vietnam has 3 World Documentary Heritages and 7 Asia-Pacific Documentary Heritages.
The International Conference on the Memory of the World and the 4th Global Policy Forum on Documentary Heritage discussed ways to preserve and promote documentary heritages to improve international understanding, cooperation, and social cohesion, and build a sustainable peace.
Vietnam’s participation at this conference and forum showed that it is active and responsible in documentary heritage. In the draft revised Law on Cultural Heritage prepared for submission to the 8th session of the 15th National Assembly, for the first time, the content of documentary heritage is regulated and adopts recommendations of the UNESCO Memory of the World Program.
