Vietnam has stood out for its growing connectedness over the past two decades. The other four countries are Mexico, the Netherlands, Sierra Leone, and the United Arab Emirates.

Vietnam’s economy grew 2.91% in 2020. Its exports were 28.4% higher in the first half of 2021 than in the first half of 2020.

Vietnam is on track to sustain its economic growth in the future by strengthening its global links through five policy areas: peace and security, openness to international flows, an attractive domestic business environment, regional integration, and societal support for connectedness. Promoting an an attractive domestic business environment has proved better for climbing at pushing the global connectedness index than conventional globalization policies.
