According to a Vietnam Airlines representative, this flight carrying 121 passengers on board sparks hope for a strong rebound of Vietnam’s aviation and tourism. It was launched under a Government plan to reopen Vietnam’s border to low-risk destinations, beginning January 1 this year.
The resumption of regular international flights shows that the Vietnamese Government keeps abreast of the times as the region is going all out to speed up socio-economic recovery and heal the global supply chain disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, said Uch Leang, Acting Director of the Department of Asian, African and Middle East Studies under the International Relations Institute of Cambodia. He added that safe direct flights will contribute to the sustainable socio-economic development of Vietnam and Cambodia in the new normalcy.
The next scheduled international flights will be operated by Vietnam Airlines on January 5 linking Vietnam and Japan and on January 9 linking Vietnam with the US. Tickets can be purchased via Vietnam Airlines’ website, mobile app, and its booking offices nationwide.
