(VOVworld) - Vietnam has been active in all APEC activities since joining 15 years ago. Dr. Alan Bollard, Executive Director of the APEC Secretariat made the comment in an interview with the Vietnam News Agency ahead of the 21st APEC Summit next week. He added that Vietnam’s involvement in the globalization process over recent years has helped the country to effectively manage its economic policies despite the global economic crisis. Bollard stated that Vietnam has benefited from its APEC integration thanks to the mutual interdependence among APEC member economies. The close bonds between Vietnam and APEC are reflected in the fact that Vietnam’s major importers and investors are members of APEC.

Bollard added that Vietnam is actively joining activities to enhance the forum’s capacity with its participation in the forum’s numerous projects in recent years. Vietnam is co-chairing the APEC Emergency Preparedness Working Group and taking part in many seminars to promote small business activity. Vietnam is also preparing to host the APEC Energy Working Group Meeting scheduled for next month.
