Vice President meets with female ambassadors, representatives of int’l organisations in Vietnam

(VOVWORLD) - Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan chaired a meeting in Bac Ninh on Wednesday with female Ambassadors and Chief Representatives of international organizations in Vietnam on the occasion of International Women’s Day, March 8.

In her address, Xuan highlighted Vietnamese women’s great sacrifices and contributions to national construction and defense and Vietnam’s policies to narrow the gender gap and create conditions and opportunities to ensure gender equality in all areas.

She said women have always been a bridge of peace, friendship, and a strong bond between Vietnam and other countries and peoples. She urged female Ambassadors and Chief Representatives of international organizations to continue to cooperate and support Vietnam in its rapid, sustainable development and to assist Vietnam in realizing the common international goals set by the United Nations, including gender equality goals.

Maria Olandina Isabel Caeiro Alves, Ambassador of Timor-Leste said Vietnam is a successful model in the world in promoting gender equality, in accordance with the UN’s sustainable development goals. She praised Vietnam’s policies to ensure the rights, enhance the position, and promote the role of women.
