(VOVworld) – The Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF)’s Central Committee on Sunday received a delegation of Overseas Vietnamese, who have returned home on Lunar New Year holiday.

(VOVworld) – The Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF)’s Central Committee on Sunday received a delegation of Overseas Vietnamese, who have returned home on Lunar New Year holiday. VFF Vice President Nguyen Lam repeated the Party and State’s policy of considering Overseas Vietnamese inseparable part of the Vietnamese nation and an important factor to strengthen cooperation and friendship between Vietnam and the rest of the world. Lam praised Overseas Vietnamese’ assistance for the victims of natural disasters and Agent Orange/dioxin. The guests expressed their desire to contribute more to building a better Vietnam and bridge the relationship between Vietnam and other countries.

On the same day in Hanoi, Radio the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) held a get-together with Overseas Vietnamese on Lunar New Year festival. 50 representatives shared their experiences in preserving national tradition in their countries of residence. Dao Duy Tien, Vice President of the Club of Overseas Vietnamese Intellectuals in Poland, offered his view:“Vietnamese residents in Poland teach their children to follow Vietnam’s tradition and ethics, including paying debts of gratitude to ancestors and drinking water, remembering the source. The Vietnamese community in Poland have held many activities to remind the young people of their origins such as the wedding rituals, lion dance and other traditional games and festivals. The young people should also know Vietnamese because Vietnamese language is the root of the Vietnamese nation.”

VOV organizes this annual get-together to boost connectivity between Overseas Vietnamese, their homeland and the radio station. VOV Deputy Director General Vu Hai said:“It’s VOV’s tradition to welcome Overseas Vietnamese from all over the world to share the joy and aspirations for the New Year. VOV is not only a communication agency of the Party and the State of Vietnam, but also a forum of the people, including those from abroad. The radio service for Oversea Vietnamese broadcasts updated domestic news and reports on activities of the Vietnamese community all over the world. Most notable programs are Poem reciting, Night time story telling and Eternal songs. Listeners’ letters, phone-ins and interests are precious encouragement for more than 2,300 staff of VOV.”

Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Thanh Son, Head of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs, praised efforts by VOV staff to keep informing the Vietnamese community abroad of happenings in Vietnam, saying VOV shows the Party and State’s determination to bring the homeland’s voices to all Vietnamese in the world.
