Veterans association lauded for contributions to national development

(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc hailed the Veterans Association of Vietnam (VAVN) for its active contributions to national construction and defense during a ceremony held in Hanoi on Tuesday marking its 30th founding anniversary.

"Vietnamese war veterans have a strong political will and set shining examples under a variety of circumstances, fighting wrong allegations and peaceful evolution plot by hostile forces, preventing corruption, and safeguarding national sovereignty and integrity, the Party, and national solidarity to ensure political stability and social order.

"Despite injuries caused by the war, many veterans have participated in socio-economic development programs, contributing to developing their local areas and the whole community," Mr. Phuc said.

PM Phuc presented the first-class Labor Order to the VAVN. The association now has nearly 3 million members from over 16,000 units in wards, communes and townships.
