(VOVworld) – Activities are underway to mark the 65th anniversary of the War Invalids and Martyrs Day on July 27. Authorities of the southern province of An Giang have visited and presented gifts to 120 outstanding policy beneficiary families while using budget and calling on people to donate for upgrading and building new 100 gratitude houses in Chau Doc town. The An Giang provincial Fatherland Front Committee has handed over 10 gratitude houses, worth 50 million VND (about 2.5 thousand USD) each, to policy beneficiary families in Tan Chau town. War invalid Nguyễn Văn Nhã is one of the receivers of gratitude houses:”We are facing many difficulties in life, so we are very happy to receive such state support. It will encourage us to overcome any challenge for a better life.”

Meanwhile, the northern province of Thai Nguyen has witnessed a comprehensive socialization of the “paying debt of gratitude” movement during the past 5 years. The province has donated over 16 billion VND to the “paying debt of gratitude” fund, built 800 gratitude houses that worth over 19 billion VND, and regularly presented gifts to more than 24 thousand policy beneficiaries. Vice Director Lê Đình Cường of the Thai Nguyen provincial Department of Labour, War Invalids, and Social Affairs:”The province will further improve living conditions of people who have rendered great services to the nation toward the targets that there will be no poor policy beneficiary families by July 2015 and all local war invalids and martyrs will be well taken care. As the implementation of paying our debt of gratitude requires cooperation of different branches, it is necessary to promote communication to call on more organizations and individuals to participate.”
