(VOVworld) – Activities to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Vietnam’s Dien Bien Phu Victory are taking place nationwide. An international workshop was held on Monday in Hanoi where delegates analyzed the roles and contributions of Vietnam’s Communist Party, President Ho Chi Minh, and localities nationwide to the Dien Bien Phu campaign. It also highlighted the support of the international community, especially the collaboration of Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia to the campaign. Delegates agreed on the victory’s importance in paving the way for the victory of other liberation movements.

Hanoi hosted a special art program titled “Dien Bien Phu – historical landmark” on Sunday to recall a heroic period of the nation’s history. The same day, 500 students joined a program called “Resounding Dien Bien festival” in Quang Nam province, where they watched documentaries on the Dien Bien Phu victory and General Vo Nguyen Giap, met with Dien Bien soldiers, learned about the victory, and visited beneficiary and disadvantaged families. Le Cong Ry is the Director of the Youth Center of the Central Region: "Learning about the Dien Bien Phu victory, young generations are very proud of the national revolutionary tradition of fighting invaders and of the sacrifices of their predecessors. They are determined to follow their predecessors’ example and contribute to national construction and defense."
