Trump told ambassadors on the Council that North Korea's programs are a real threat to the world. US officials have suggested that tougher sanctions should include an oil embargo, banning North Korea's airline, intercepting cargo ships, and punishing foreign banks that do business with Pyongyang.

South Korea’s Yonhap news agency reported on Tuesday that the US had deployed its strategic weapons to the Korean peninsula for a large-scale training session. The US’s nuclear-powered aircraft carrier Carl Vinson will arrive in the Korean peninsula no later than Thursday, while the nuclear-powered submarine USS Michigan approached Busan port on Tuesday.
