The communique states that priorities include “ensuring AI is open, inclusive, transparent, ethical, safe, secure and trustworthy, taking into account international frameworks for all” and “making AI sustainable for people and the planet”.

Explaining the US’s decision, US Vice President J.D. Vance said, "America wants to partner with all of you. We want to embark on the AI revolution before us with the spirit of openness and collaboration. But to create that kind of trust, we need international regulatory regimes that foster the creation of AI technology rather than strangles it. And we need our European friends in particular to look to this new frontier with optimism, rather than trepidation."

Meanwhile, the UK government said it had not been able to add its name to it because of concerns about national security and "global governance." The UK’s AI Safety Institute is also concerned that stricter AI regulations can affect its cooperation with US partners.
