Yellen said the she hopes her visit will strengthen communication, avoid misunderstandings caused by differences, and strengthen cooperation on addressing global challenges.

In a statement released on the same day, China's Ministry of Finance said the trade war or broken supply chains do not benefit either side. Beijing hopes Washington will take concrete actions to create a favorable environment for the healthy development of economic and trade relations.
