On Wednesday, Malaysia’s National Police Chief Khalid Abu Bakar said Malaysian police have detained 13 Malaysians suspected to be linked to the IS. The Star newspaper quoted Bakar as saying that the 13 Malaysian suspects were arrested on Tuesday in Shah Alam, the capital of Selangor state. Since late April, 36 IS-linked Malaysians have been arrested.

Authorities previously confirmed that dozens of Malaysians have joined the civil war in Syria and IS militants are actively seeking additional recruits via social media.
