Mr. Pompeo said the US will not renegotiate the nuclear deal signed in 2015, but listed 12 requirements for a new agreement with Tehran, including a halt of all missile programs, uranium enrichment, and plutonium recycling, and unlimited access to all nuclear sites across Iran. The demands also call on Iran to withdraw from Syria, end support for insurgents in the Middle East, release all US citizens, and stop all threats against Israel.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said the Trump administration’s demands are unacceptable. Foreign Minister Javad Zarif called the demands unreasonable and said they amount to interventionism.
