The two leaders reaffirmed the Alliance's fundamental mission to defend South Korea. They agreed to work to expeditiously enable the conditions-based transfer of wartime operational control of ROK forces. Both countries pledged to continue to coordinate closely to achieve their shared goal of complete, verifiable, and irreversible denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula in a peaceful manner. Trump also expressed support for South Korean President Moon Jae-in's policy to resume dialogue with North Korea.
