The Vice President underscored that the US-RoK alliance remains the linchpin of peace, stability, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific and around the world. She affirmed the US commitment to the US-RoK defense partnership and welcomed steps to broaden the alliance to take on the defining challenges of time. The two leaders condemned the recent ballistic missile launch by North Korea and pledged to work together to address the threats posed by North Korea’s nuclear and missile programs. The two leaders discussed a stronger economic partnership, particularly in advanced technology, semiconductors, and space development.
Vice President Harris will visit South Korea and the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) on Thursday.
