US sets conditions for resumption of talks with Iran

(VOVWORLD) - Iran must take "de-escalatory" steps on its nuclear program if it wants to make space for diplomacy with the United States, starting by cooperating with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), US State Department spokesman Matt Miller said on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the Iranian Foreign Ministry on Tuesday rejected media reports claiming that direct talks on the revival of the 2015 nuclear deal and removal of the sanctions would start between Tehran and Washington in the upcoming weeks.

Iranian officials have repeatedly rejected the possibility of holding direct talks with the United States but said indirect exchange of messages with the United States have continued through mediators over the past months.
