The Swedish Government on Monday approved the deployment of an anti-drone system and several radar units to Denmark to help safeguard Copenhagen and protect the summit, following a request from Denmark.
In addition to Sweden, France and Germany have also provided specialized anti-drone systems, while dispatching a combat helicopter and a Hamburg air defense frigate to monitor the Baltic Sea region.
Copenhagen will host the summit of 40 heads of state. To enhance security, Denmark has banned all civilian drone flights in its airspace until the end of Friday. That decision follows recent drone activity reported over Denmark which led to the temporary closure of several airports, including Copenhagen Airport, the largest in Northern Europe.
