Seven Republicans joined the Democrats in rejecting a measure introduced by Republican Rand Paul of Kentucky that would have repealed most of the current health care law, with a two-year delay and no replacement. Senators voted 57-43 late Tuesday to reject an alternative plan. More votes on more alternatives are expected.
