The Republican-controlled Senate voted 84 to 8 for the bill, which will allocate nearly 3 billion USD for the Health and Human Services Department's program to house unaccompanied migrant children, allowing it to expand its capacity. The vote came a day after the House of Representatives passed a measure authorizing 4.5 billion USD in aid.
