Blinken will attend the 13th East Asia Summit and the 30th ASEAN Regional Forum, in which, he will emphasize the US’s commitment to ASEAN’s centrality and support for ASEAN's vision for the Indo-Pacific region.

Blinken will address economic cooperation, the fight against climate change, maritime issues in the East Sea (internationally known as South China Sea), Myanmar issue, and the conflict in Ukraine.

The US hosted a US-ASEAN summit in Washington DC last May. The US and ASEAN upgraded their relationship to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership last November and are celebrating 46 years of relationship this year.
