(VOVworld) – US Secretary of State John Kerry and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov have reached a provisional agreement on terms of a cessation of hostilities in Syria. But in an announcement on Sunday, Kerry said a lot of things remain to be done.

On Saturday the two leaders talked by phone about conditions for a ceasefire that would go into effect in days. Kerry anticipated US President Barack Obama and Russian President Vladimir Putin will talk in the coming days to complete the provisional agreement in principle.
According to Russia’s Foreign Ministry, Lavrov and Kerry discussed ending military operations in Syria, except for operations against groups designated by the UN as terrorists.
