South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman General Jung Seung-jo met his US counterpart, General Martin Dempsey, at the 36th South Korea-US Military Committee Meeting held as a video conference on Wednesday. The US affirmed the transfer of wartime combat power to ROK in December, 2015. Both sides reaffirmed the principles of a detailed security plan called the ‘Strategic Alliance 2015 Plan’. The Strategic Alliance 2015 Plan was the next stage for both to defer a wartime combat power transfer until the year 2015. Besides, ROK and the US agreed that the meeting plays an important role in strengthening the bilateral strategic alliances relationship and pledged to hold this meeting at least twice a year. The South Korea-US Military Committee Meeting is currently being held once a year in October.
