During talks with Singaporean Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan, Pompeo reiterated the US's support for ASEAN countries in upholding their sovereign rights and interests under international law, and underscored Washington's opposition to China’s efforts to use coercion to push its unlawful maritime claims in the South China Sea.  

Secretary Pompeo and Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi talked about the continued, strong US-Indonesia Strategic Partnership and the two countries’ shared goal of respecting international law in the South China Sea.
