The US insists that its commitment to the US-Japan Security Treaty of 1960 is unwavering, according to the State Department.

The US will continue to work with Japan to address shared regional and global objectives by affirming a rules-based approach and respect for international law, including the Law of the Sea, and strengthening US-Japan-Republic of Korea trilateral cooperation in the face of North Korea’s nuclear and ballistic missile programs, it said.
