Trump and Vice President-elect Mike Pence met House Speaker Paul Ryan and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to discuss the Republican Party’s priorities.

Trump told reporters following the meetings that he will take the issues on immigration, health care, and job creation into careful consideration.

Earlier Senator McConnell said repealing the Obamacare health insurance system was high on the agenda for the new Congress. Regarding the US-Mexico border, McConnell said he wanted to achieve "in whatever way is the most effective."

In related news, Australian PM Malcolm Turnbull said that President-elect Donald Trump in a phone call on Thursday underscored the need of a US presence in the Asia-Pacific and the importance of the alliance between the two countries.

Under President-elect Trump’s administration, the US will continue to increase its military forces in Europe as scheduled. A spokesperson for the US Department of Defense, Peter Cook, said the Pentagon has plans to deploy another brigade in Europe next February, bringing the total active troops there to 3 brigades.
