“The ball is in China’s court,” the president said in a new statement read at the White House press briefing by press secretary Karoline Leavitt on Tuesday.

Earlier, President Trump announced that China had canceled a major deal with Boeing. Mr. Trump addressed the report in a Truth Social post on Tuesday, writing that China "just reneged on the big Boeing deal, saying that they will 'not take possession' of fully committed to aircraft."

Washington is currently imposing a total tariff rate of 145% on Chinese goods. In response, Beijing has levied a 125% tariff on American goods. The US has paused reciprocal tariffs for 90 days starting April 9 for about 75 trading partners, except China.
