The speech is the president's response to 46 proposals of a special surveillance committee established by the White House last August following the revelation of former Central Intelligence Agency employee Eward Snowden. In a 43 minute long speech at the US Justice Department, President Obama announced a number of changes including putting an end to surveillance activities to ally countries and carrying out supervision of the government's information collection of millions of phone called by Americans. The president added he asked US intelligence and justice officials to take measures to assure that foreigners will not be supervised by measures applied to American people.
