He said investigating violations of human rights would be given priority, adding that the FBI would investigate reported incidents against individuals based upon any group including race, religion, or sexual orientation. According to the US attorney, making these threats is not only wrong but illegal and needs to be stopped.

AFP reported that since the Orlando shooting, Muslims living in Fort Pierce, where gunman Omar Mateen lived, have endured profanity, taunts, and even death threats.

Mateen's motives for carrying out the slaughter are still unclear.
