Christopher Lee Cornell, 22, was punished for inflicting pain on the spirit of the entire country and terrorizing its leadership. The court also ordered lifetime probation after prison for Cornell.

The Justice Department said at the August trial that Cornell had admitted his terror plan to detonate explosives and shoot government officials. He had acquired ammunition and researched how to make bombs. Cornell was arrested in January last year and admitted to providing support for Islamic State.
