These targets included command and control operations, intelligence centers, rockets and missiles, logistics and munition supply chain facilities believed to be controlled by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) Quds Force and affiliated militia groups.

The US emphasized that these are forces related to attacks targeting US and coalition forces in the Middle East. About 125 missiles, bombs, and precision munitions were used in the raids. In the statement issued after the airstrike, Lloyd Austin, the US defense secretary, emphasized that further bombing raids were planned.

Meanwhile, Iraq and Syria have called the airstrike a violation of national sovereignty and a threat to regional security. In Syria, at least 6 people were killed and 4 injured after the attack, local media reported.
